    The 2017 Australian Football League Season, the 121st season of the AFL competition, began on March 23. As we’re half way through the season, now is a good time to review the 2017 AFL season and try and pick a winner. Four rounds of the 2017 AFL season will be played in July and another 4 will be played in August before the finals in September. So, which team has dominated the 2017 AFL so far and which team has had a horrific season this far? All of this will be revealed here.

    Fourteen rounds of the 2017 AFL season were played till the end of June. At the end of round thirteen, Adelaide sat pretty at the top of the table while Brisbane was stationed at the bottom of the pile. Adelaide had won 9 of the thirteen games it played while the Brisbane lions had just 2 wins to its name. So, will the fortunes of the Brisbane lions change in the coming rounds of the 2017 AFL season? A good way to find this out is looking at the AFL future odds. Coming back to the review of the AFL season so far, positions 2 to 8 are occupied by Greater Western Sydney, Geelong, Port Adelaide, Melbourne, Richmond, West Coast and Essendon in that order.

    What can be expected?

    Considering the performances so far, it is almost certain that Adelaide and Greater Western Sydney will make it to the qualifying finals of the 2017 AFL season. The other two spots of the 2017 AFL season could be occupied by any two teams among Geelong, Port Adelaide, Melbourne Richmond, and West Coast. After round thirteen, Port Adelaide, Melbourne Richmond and West coast all had the same number of points. As Geelong is a few points ahead of the other 4 teams involved in the race for a top 4 spot, it would be sensible to back it to make it to the qualifying finals. With three spots gone, the battle for the last spot in the qualifying finals would be between Port Adelaide, Melbourne and Richmond.

    The aforementioned -teams are likely to occupy the top 6 spots in the 2017 AFL table. This means that only one spot remains in the elimination finals which is likely to be occupied by one of Essendon, Western Bulldogs, St. Kilda and Fremantle.

Let’s say your horse was rated at 25/1 and you wage $10. If you’re horse wins, you’ll get 25 x 10 plus your initial $10. So, you see, the higher the odds the less likely your horse is to win but the more cash you make if it is victorious. Also, be aware that odds often change in the run up to a race.
    • Studying the Form: When selecting a horse, it is important to study the horse’s track record, age, preference of soft or hard ground, jockey record, and recent race performance.
    • To Win: You can place a bet for your horse to win as described above.
    • Each Way: If you place an E/W bet, you come home with some cash if your horse comes in the top three, but you will need to check the terms and conditions with your bookie. You can also look for bookies that may employ payperhead software or other bookmaker software to get necessary guidance as well as learn about rules and regulations through the software. Moreover, such tools can also let a player place more than one bet, which can increase your winning chances.
    • Filling Out a Race Card: When filling out your race card at the races, you need to write down the name of the track, the time of the race, the horse’s name, and the odds. You will need to fill in the same information online.
